LEARN MORE ABOUT THE 2010 GMC TERRAIN:
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/GeneralFuture/articleId=130310?tid=edmun...

Now that the full-size SUV is the scourge of American society, the 2010 GMC Terrain is shaping up as the most important new vehicle in GMC's lineup. Caught testing in Death Valley for the first time, this all-new compact crossover should combine decent mileage with a reasonable size for buyers who are downsizing from larger SUVs.

From the looks of this prototype, the 2010 GMC Terrain will use blocklike styling to make up for its smaller stature. The front end looks similar to GMC's Sierra pickups with thick crossbars in the grille and large, rectangular headlights. In profile, a steeply raked windshield keeps the Terrain from looking too boxy, while a small kink in the rear window line adds something unique to the Terrain compared to its larger siblings. With so much camouflage over the rear end, it's hard to make out any details, but the Terrain's overall shape looks similar to the Acadia midsize SUV.

Built on a modified version of the Theta platform that currently underpins the Chevrolet Equinox, the GMC Terrain might try to squeeze in three rows of seats. This would make it more competitive with vehicles like the Toyota Highlander, although the Terrain's size means minimal space for anyone sitting in the third row.

Like most vehicles in the compact SUV class, the Terrain will most likely offer both front- and all-wheel drive. Which engine will power those wheels is a tough call at this point. Six months ago we would have expected some version of GM's 3.6-liter V6 under the hood, but looming fuel-economy standards could push GMC into using something smaller and more efficient.

Expect to see the official unveil of the 2010 GMC Terrain early next year along with the 2010 Cadillac SRX, which will share the same platform. Both vehicles are expected to go on sale by the fall of 2009 at the latest.

  • We really need to have the (BEST) car designers IN USA! to improve the looks and confortability with low gas miles suchs as . GMC , FORD, and all American Cars in order to be the best sellers around the world. remember safety is always including ...Come on AMERICAN CAR designers use your brains..!!!!!!!

  • overly priced

  • We bought one and LOVE it! There is a all wheel drive version which we didnt get. Other wise ours li loaded. It was storming where we are the other day and when I got into the terrain and started it a message popped up telling me there were severe weather warnings in our area with info on what was happening and when they would end. It has bluetooth and many other features. LOVE onstar. We love GMC's. Gm always beats the rest because they are the BEST! Period!

  • lol

  • cuando sale este auto en mexico?

  • It'll have the all wheel drive option.. It is the same thing as the 2010 Equinox by Chevy.

  • I saw it in the last auto show. At first I thought it was the next generation of the Yukon Denali but I thank G*d it wasn't. People everywhere are overly exited over this CUV, I frankly don't see why.

  • Jap parts that are now made/assembled in China, right?

  • I'm American and that's a true statement. Although You're generalizing. Not all of us want "Made In China" goods., But when you have greedy businessmen ruining this country, and ALL countries have them in the name of personal profit over pride, there's no other choice, what else can we do. Put a gun on their temples and demand they bring back the industries they shipped overseas?

  • its not like this video is directly from gm. its way better than ford! fords are peices of crap that just appeal to the eye and have sucky everything else, same for chrysler.
