This rendition of HOTS gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. And allthough I'm a huge fan of Bruford era Yes (and Bruford era Crimson for that matter), I still think this is a high water mark for the band, this rendition. The band sounds VERY together here. A big "thumbs up" from me. :-)
In general, I don't like Alan Whites inclusion in their line-up. But, this here recording and Roundabout from the same album are some of the best live rock recordings ever! Don't ask me to quantify it, 'cause I can't. Roundabout and Heart Of The Sunrise from Yessongs are two definitive highlights of classic (as it were) rock for me.
my grandpa once shouted to me from the garden , when i was listening to this yessongs album inside the house : " awful ! this is against all laws of composition !" well, some of this music may really sound a bit willful today and forced but precisely this is also why these incredible effects are achieved - this was the most exciting band of their days and, although that melody ladder up and down racing gets on my nerves soon, it still is greatly worth listening today

sublime, and live too. Just great. The low numbers are embarrassing - to the masses!

One must have a truely eclecticed musical mind to fully appreciate YES songs.

For me, Yes is a band who makes you thinking about the meaning of art, of life.
