sea breeze's haunt my soul....and my heart takes flight...so goes the talent of a songwriter...who can take you on this journey...and Mr M is always that songwriter.

@MrChicano1979 I finally watched "The Big Lebowski" all the way through, the other night. Got it. If possible, I want this song to be the last thing I hear, as I drift off into oblivion. It will aways remind me of when I went through the South Pacific in 1968. Bora Bora, Tahiti, etc. I have few regrets. Aloha and Peace from Kauai.

You start to realize just how deep and complicated this song is after you've heard it several times. Always makes me think of an African safari. One of the alltime best of Mancini and, therefore, one of the alltime best in music! Just love this!

I inherited the "Best of Mancini" RCA LP from my brother when I was about 6 or 7, and this tune worked its way into my head and never left. Just brilliant, haunting, evocative and whatever adjectives anyone else has used here. (plus a baritone horn solo - where else?)
If you watch the Blake Edwards movie "10," listen closely during the Mexican bar scene with Dudley Moore and Brian Dennehy, and hear the solo pianist in the background playing this tune and also "Mr Lucky."

"Hello Dude, I'm Jackie Treehorn"

I dig the way you do business Jackie.
This piece is so clever. I love the toccato rif overlayed with those syrupy strings. Balmy evening, pacific beach, romance and sexuality all evoked with seeming effortlessness by these notes of music. And there's a depth and a restraint to it too, which seems to hint at other things - a little danger and darkness. Beautiful. It really is genius.
