Allen Funt achieved a BA in Fine Arts from Cornell University in 1934 and studied business administration at Columbia University. He began The Candid Microphone on ABC Radio in 1946 and soon experimented with a visual version by doing a series of theatrical short films also known as The Candid Microphone. These film shorts served as a springboard for his entrance into television with The Candid Camera.

Listen for Bernie Green's music cue at :49...that later became his theme for Wally Cox's "MR. PEEPERS" (1952-'55). This was originally broadcast on July 18, 1950, when Philip Morris sponsored Funt's radio and TV shows ["CANDID CAMERA" appeared for PM on Monday nights, with Ken Roberts as "co-host"]...both went off at the end of the summer.
