This really puts a more Grimm aspect of the classic fairytale. There are no singing dwarves, no 'true love' first kiss. And the wicked queen well is not only wicked BUT is human. Her deceipt into the swirls of depression, maddness and vengence is utterly human. It makes her more of a tragic character then a monster that other versions make her out to be. I ADORE this movie, it is a gothic feel to it as it always should have been told.

Don't get me wrong, I have at least seven versions of this classic fairytale.. and a growing collection that I enjoy time and time again. Yes it is available on dvd and yes I STRONGLY recommend you either purchase through your local retail store, ebay, or find it at amazon.com where i found it at an EXTREMELY reasonable price. ^_^ Oh and if you are a member of ColumbiaHouse.com they have it in their selection as well, along with Netflix.com. Yes this is a spooky film but there is hardly any bloodshed or gore, just good old spookiness. However little ones should watch with an older companion or wait until they are at least ten years of age. At least to understand the story a bit more. In either case... ENJOY.

I know an old lady who's face is EXACTLY like Sigurney's when she transforms in an old had. But the old lady I know is the kindest person I've ever known, she's saintlike, so it's really strange to see the last minute of this video!!!!!
