Middle East journalist Robert Fisk argues that the U.S. media delivers a "false narrative" about Iran's nuclear ambitions, as they rarely discuss that the West originally supported an Iranian nuclear program.

-----

In "The Age of the Warrior", Dr. Robert Fisk has assembled a remarkable collection of essays and stories which serve to amplify and reflect the blood-stained past and present in which we live.

Fisk takes readers from the London bombings to the streets of Lebanon, from war torn Iraq to the horror of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, offering courageous eyewitness accounts.

Ranging from the inspirational to the utterly tragic, these essays encompass our world today - World Affairs Council of Washington, D.C.

Robert Fisk is Middle East correspondent for the London Independent (independent.co.uk). He has been based in Beirut for more than thirty years and has covered every major war in the Middle East over that period. Mr. Fisk has been given seven British International Journalist of the Year awards for his work. His previous books include Pity the Nation: The Abduction of Lebanon and In Time of War: Ireland, Ulster and the Price of Neutrality 1939-45.

  • Iran will never stop its nuclear program just bcoz some americans are scared of their lives and need oil. iran has the right to have nuclear energy just like many other countries..wether as they say for 'peacful reasons' or not..

and peter the war WILL be nuclear but tehran wont be destroyed and iranians wont die it'l be the other way round!

  • Interesting as always (Robert Fisk)

  • @2008butch you retarded

  • Iran is not insane enough to use a nuke on anyone, and claiming religion or ideology will dictate their actions is simplistic. The world knows that the US ais adverse to fighting adversaries that are capable of defending themselves. Take N. Korea for ex. they built the bomb and the US completely left them alone for fear of retaliation. Attacking Iran, may prove dangerous already, as they have the weaponry and technology to shut down the gulf with their sea skimming missles and a nuke be a +

  • @bigmedge I understand some of your points, but what would you do if someone was constantly threatening you with war and annhilation? US and Israel constantly isolate and intimidate Iran with violence. Fisk as well as the Israeli leader of the IDF have repeatedly said that if Iran is not trying to build a bomb they are nuts because of the constant threat against them. Iran is signatory of IAEA non-proliferation treaty which by law gives them the right to peaceful use of nuclear power

  • @Braindrain3 I understand some of your points, but what would you do if someone was constantly threatening you with war and annhilation? • @Braindrain3 This is not the US, this is the UN IAEA discovery that that Iran has created a trigger mechanism which can only be used for a nuclear missile, and IAEA provided confirmation that there is indeed a secret nuke plant in Qom, which btw they were not allowed to fully inspect. So it's wishful thinking to say that this fanatical cult, which openly hopes & prays for martyrdom when their Mahdi messiah comes & causes WORLDWIDE ARMAGEDDON, is not seeking nukes for its Mahdi goals

  • @durhamdf these are not my opinions these are official policies of the US. Read the PNAC reports and policies recommendations, pentagon papers, etc. This is not pure fantasy this is reality. Reread your WWII history about the use of oil in warfare tactics and combine them with PNAC and pentagon papers and it is pretty clear what the US ambitions are. They are not secret the overtly tell us, average americans just choose to ignore them.

  • @Braindrain3 lol I think your a little paranoid. If we went to war with China, it would make no difference who currently "controlled" the oil supply because those regions would immediately become battlegrounds. Are you an NWO clown by any chance? If we go to war with China, control of the oil supply is going to be the LAST thing on our minds. Long after trying to shoot down the waves of intercontinental balistic missiles pouring over the Pacific. And we both already have emergency oil reserves

  • @durhamdf I don't think you understood what I said. US invasion was not to steal the oil it was to CONTROL the oil. The pentagon knows there is limited supply of fossil fuels and growing demand. They want to control the oil producing region via military force in preparation for a military conflict with China for example and restrict or cut off its oil supplies and therefore win the war. The US defeated germany and japan during WWII by restricting oil supplies and forsee same outcome with china

  • @Braindrain3 except the oil was flowing under gadaffi and Sadam, and Ahmadinejad... Dictators are actually much more willing to drill for oil and pump it out at faster rates because they don't give two shits about their country. They don't need to get the best deal on their resource, they just want to get a cut, and the bigger the pie, the bigger the slice they take in. Why would we spend trillions of dollars to invade a country to achieve something that is already occuring?!?!
