Wellwishers at home and from abroad are continuously donating cash and kind assistance for the storm victims. On 24th July, wel1wishers from Canada donated 1.2 million Kyats to build 2 houses for the storm victims to Donation Receiving and Supervisory Committee at the Fire Services (Headquarters) in Yangon. It was accepted by Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Brig-Gen Kyaw Myint and officials who in turn presented certificate of honour and spoke words of thanks.




International community is continuously providing relief aids for the areas severely hit by the Cyclone Nargis. Relief aids weighing 114.2171 tons donated by WFP based in Thailand arrived at Yangon International Airport on Thursday.

Under the arrangement of the Ministry of Health, the medical teams have been rendering continuous health care services to the locals in storm-affected areas. On Thursday, the two medical teams comprising specialists, assistant doctors, house surgeons and nurses left Yangon General Hospital for Bogale and Labutta Townships in Ayeyawady Division by cars.


Deputy Director-General of Health Department Dr. Win Myint and officials saw them off and facilitated them.


It is learnt that the medical team going down to Bogale Township is comprised with the team leader Specialist Dr. Thet New Oo, pediatricians, an OG, a surgeon, an anesthetist, an assistant doctor, house surgeons and nurses totalling 14 while the medical team heading to Labutta Township is comprised with the team leader Specialist Dr. Aye Aye Win of North Okkalapa General Hospital, a surgeon, an anesthetist, a pediatrician, assistant doctors, house surgeons and nurses totalling 11.
