(Update 2-22-09 )Just got back from the first test ride.
I would say I'm atleast going 45 now if not 46mph.
In stock form it would top out at 43mph this was just midpoint of the yamaha symbol. Now it pegs out past the symbol. well worth the actual 10 minutes it takes to get this apart. there is no longer the mid range ;ag around 30mph.

I loosend all the bolts so I could give people that just wanted the quick process and how easy this is to remove, If you can change your oil you can do this.

I also noticed that this washer does not keep the plates from hitting each other it actualy just makes the shaft the inboard variator plate rides on longer, with it installed both plates can be full compressed together manually.

Due to the extra length the washer adds the variator weight have been limited by the ramp profile on how far they can compress the plates together.

I also drill lightend my weights from an original total weight of 36 grams down to 28. The stock roller weights are teflon ruber coated steel that has been compressed around a brass hollowed out slug.
I took a half inch bit and drilled through the center balancing and weighing them with my gram scale.

The reason for doing this the final gear ratio comes on to soon fully droping your rpm by the time you hit 25ish I dont feel the accelleration again intill 35 this continues up to 43 where the stock limiter is set.
By lightening up the variator weights this should allow the motor to hold a higher rpm until you get to 30-35 instead of 25mph so ther will be no mid range lag, this will cause your mpg to go down if you cruise in the 30mph range.
i needed the extra acceleration to stay up with the pack, and the extra top speed to keep the group of cager's from catching up to me.

I thought stock was bout 35 mph? I am thinking of buying one and just need it to get to just over 40mph for the roads I use. Advice please. Thanks

  • @jgtrent

Do what I did in the vid that will get you there,

Also the stock tires are junk get the largest tire you can find and put it out back, and the stock exhaust is very restrictive, the catalytic mesh can be removed.

  • yamaha i love dust scooter. yamaha vox. yamaha c3. yamaha giggle. ( Worlds of Heroes )

  • @My2die4

    thanks

  • Take the whole variator assembly out then take that washer and slide it to the very back of the spindal. put your variator pulley's back on. What will happen is that now the variator is realined with the clutch and will give you an extra 2 miles an hour on top of the MPH you will gain from this deristrict job.

  • @jliverty Get a High performance air filter for about $10-$20 on ebay n get Performance variator rollers 3-4 grams. The lower the grams the better they cost about $10-$25 also on ebay together the filter n rollers will give u more top end speed n faster acceleration u need to change ur rollers every 700-1000 miles anyway if not they will wear down n u will lose speed.I'm 190 lbs I live n the PA mountains I was getting 10-15 miles n hour up big hills now iam getting 20-25 miles n hour up big hills
