Любовь и разлука - Love and parting

This is yet another "contemporary romance" - a song written in the late 20th century with a nod to the 19th century romantic pieces. It is a result of a very successful and prolific collaboration between composer Issaac Schwartz and poet Bulat Okudzhava. The song was written for a movie "We weren't married in a church" based on a true story of two young people thrown together by the circumstances and forced into a fictitious marriage, until they actually fall in love (we only THINK we invented that one).

Unlike the traditional 19th century romances, this one is as much about life as it is about love. I was in a hurry to post this, because this is my first attempt at compiling my own midi accompaniment (I got tired to bumming the files off of others), and didn't have the patience to do a proper translation (i.e. with the rhyme and correct rhythm), but here is a non-literary version just to give you an idea:

Your wedding dress has not yet been sewn
And the choir will not sing in our honor,
But time - the carefree driver - is already rushing us,
And the horses are eager to take flight.

Let's hope that the horses won't stray off the path
And the bell on the shaft-bow never grows silent.
Two eternal friends - love and parting
Never travel without one another.

And something is already glowing ahead of us,
But something had dimmed behind us.

It is a sacred science to hear each other
Through all the winds, for all of time.
The two eternal travelers - love and parting
Will share everything they've got with us.

The longer we live, the shorter are our years,
The sweeter are the voices of our friends.
Let the bell on the shaft-bow never grow silent.
Let us always be able to look into each other's eyes.
