Jews were originally tribes, Judaism was a tribal religion in antiquity. Just look at the Ashkenazi , Mizrachi and Beta-Israel Jews most look different but share common ancestry. I don't know how you can be orthodox but not orthodox by Halakah? As far as I'm aware there are a 'Jews' that accept Yeshua as messiah by the majority of Jewis are thought of as a Jew that converted to Christianity. Maybe your parents were Jewish by Halakah or you have ancestry. I'd ask an orthodox rabbi:))

@ByTheShortAndCurlies If Jews (Israelites, Hebrews) cannot be a race, than explain the new anti-Semitism at the end of the 1800's, which was based solely on genetic make up? Furthermore as one who was orthodox before he came to faith, I can assure you that I am fully Jewish, not by orthodox standards (as the Talmud states that once a Jew accepts Messiah, he is no longer Jewish and the angel reattaches the foreskin), but by the fact that I've Jewish DNA, my mother's Jewish, and family is Jewish.

Its described as a ethno-religious group however Judaism accepts converts and that convert will be as Jewish as any born Jew as long as done by Jewish law. Therefore Jews can't be a race. Judaism is the way into the religion, people and nation. Incidentally, a convert to Judaism is treated better and should be respected more than a born Jew. I'm an Israeli born Jew. Christians are not Jews by any orthodox definition unless they were born Jews and became heretics/apostates.
