this is Tessa the Potcake from the Turks & Caicos islands! My family and I traveled to the turks and caicos island for april vacation in 2011. when we adopted her from "The Potcake Place," she was suspected to be around 10 weeks old... She was found behind a dumpster by the Shark-Bite Restaurant with the rest of her brothers and sisters. Its now been almost 7 months since we brought her back to Massachusetts with us and I must say, Tessa is by far the best "souvenir" we've ever gotten on any vacation! Shes a wonderful addition to the family and I love her very very much! Pot Cakes are unique and amazing dogs and more need to be rescued from the Turks & Caicos Islands! They are wild dogs and roam the streets...the average life span for a wild potcake is around 2 years due to death from starvation and dehydration...Also, they are purposefully poisoned and shot by police so they won't interfere with tourists. Its very sad, and Tessa would have suffered the same fate had to members of the Potcake Place rescued her off the streets...if you're ever planning a vacation to Turks and Caicos, make sure to check out "The Potcake Place" and who knows, maybe you will end up leaving with a very species souvenir of your own!
