The Plimsouls caught live at the notorious Hollywood nightclub The Starwood circa 1979. Shot from the balcony of the infamous "Hot 100 Club". If I'm not mistaken, this is guitarist Eddie Munoz's first major club gig with the band. The band had been a trio prior to this performance. This is a great live clip - really shows what a great live band they were.

  • I was lucky enough to see these guys a ton of times back in the day. The Whiskey, the Roxy, the Starwood, the Golden Bear, and all over LA. They ever played at Miraleste Hgh School and I went there to see them.

There was no better band live back then and they never disappointed when you saw them live.

They should have been a lot bigger!

  • i never knew until a few years ago Plimsouls means old sneakers. great band.

  • @TheMorgan208 write a book

i saw 20/20 and jon and the nightriders there

  • @TheMorgan208 I also worked as a waitress at the Starwood the last two years it was open, i know what you mean about the stores, lol...i saw peter case play tonight in my little hometown in New Jersey, tiny show with about 50 people, it was the first time i'd seen him since 1983...eddie muñoz was also in the audience

  • love this band and all of case's solo work.

  • I watched this set from the top of the stairs behind the stage. I worked backstage the last 2 1/2 years the Starwood was open. If i told you the stories you wouldn't believe them.

  • I don't know about anybody else but I lived on the East Coast and while I always liked what I heard from the PlimSouls, I admit their name convinced me they were English, and was basically looking in the wrong places for news of them. It was unfortunate.

(I'm friends with Peter now on FB though...)

  • Their punk flag sure flies higher in those early years! Nice. How odd that despite everyone loving them, they never got as famous as less deserving acts. Either they ticked off the wrong VP or else some music exec made the worst business decision of his/her life by not signing them. Either way, makes you wonder what could have been...

  • I used to deliver beer there in college. You would always get paid in cash..Saw John Cougar, Rick Derringer, Nick Gilder, Quiet Riot, X, Ramones and more I cant remember. More drugs and decadence than you could ever imagine. They had the stage area on one side , a bar/eating area in the middle and a dance setup on the other side. Easy place to pick up girls. Those were the days!!

  • The Starwood was a great place to see bands then, all the L.A. bands played there, The Plimsouls, The Pop, 20 20, X, Black Flag, and on an on...also saw Cheap Trick and The Ramones there!
