Clear Ideas was created for an exhibiton "Liberator", a collaboration between artists Olek and Naomi White, is based on and inspired by the paintings of Rene Magritte. One of the things were fascinated by in Magrittes work is the way he plays with the transparency of language. Combining Oleks crocheted camouflage masks with Whites use of hair/hats, gender and nationality are obscured and the subject is liberated from the the burden of identity. Each performer captured by Whites camera is armored with a suit of crocheted camouflage as a reference to different human behaviors which mask the identity of the individual. agataolek.com
