Great movie... I remember all cinemas showing the movie were 140% full and most of the people were crying... That was in Thessaloniki, Greece, more than fifty years ago.... Now if the same film could be on show I doubt if even 3% will go to see it...

We are influenced by the violence, porn, and propaganda served by Hollywood, (and not only),... we became worst than animals... monsters.

@DinCorp They actually fell in love with each other during the making of the film. Apparently something went wrong on the set where Nargis was surrounded by fire, and Sunil Dutt just jumped in and rescued her.

unfortunately i do not understand hindi but i like this film and its songs very much it shows us India's people who live under poverty line who are mostly poor farmers who had been neglected still

I remember this movie and many more in Lima Peru when my father used to take me and my brothers...we were little kids my lovely father is 76 years old now...oh dear god these tears in my eyes.
