Originally unveiled as a "concept" car at the 2007 North American International Auto Show, the first pre-production Volts have rolled off the line. Most of these vehicles will be used for the testing and validation of production and design. They will also be used to develop the final software and controls, including the way that the driver interacts with the vehicle. Some will have short lives, as they'll be crash tested after running other tests like endurance, battery drivetrain interface and windshield wiper and door function. Approximately 80 of the extended-range electric vehicles will be produced over the next year, putting General Motors ahead of pre-production deadlines. The automaker hopes to start producing Volts for retail sale by the end of 2010.
Jay Leno drove this, he really liked it, Andrew Farah who was the chief engineer behind the car is brilliant! Can't wait to see how it sells.

But it's educational advisers such as myself, who create new concepts that the oil companies refuse to think of.

won't you rather hear people loosing their jobs rather then loosing their homes OR their lives caused by natural disasters caused by global warming??? sacrifice may come, but more chance of surviving.... better to act now then never! not to mention that earth is running out of oil and last thing everybody wants is a 3rd world war for the oil!

Everyone. Notice how that Volt is endangered. It threatens the OIL business. So now GM is underwater with the fish. If you cannot see how big OIL is pulling its strings to keep gas guzzlers and profits to record highs then I suggest you not get new vision correction but a whole set of new eyes.
