Salty, I don't know what your science background is, but you have to know that the debate about any scientific topic is never over. A lot of our previous held ideas have been modified, reaffirmed, or scrapped altogether due to new research, and new evidence. Nothing is ever beyond debate as long as there is evidence to back it up.

Gore exaggerated things in his movie apparently haven't seen it my self hell even my Climate Change lecturer says he was too alarmist and went off topic but thats called critiquing its what academics do.
