Ultra rare and very hard to find, the INFAMOUS Buddy Base made by Autronix corporation. I had not heard of this radio until I read about it at Retrocom.com After that, I knew that I had to have 1. This is the 2nd that I had. I regrettably sold the first which had the high power switch and an extra large transformer that looked like a rewired TV transformer that didn't quite fit. I was actually disappointed when I first got that one off Ebay until I did my homework. This one does have the 6146B final and 5881 (6l6 family) audio tube, but not the oversize transformer and the diode high power pack. 23 channel crystal TX, and 23 channel tunable receive (like a Tram Titan) plus 6 channel crystal receive channels. This does not have any receive crystals in it and works strictly off the manual vfo tune. These very early radios use regenerative receive and sound great when conditions aren't crowded, but when the band is crowded, you will not want to use this receiver. The transmitter is awesome. The only thing in its category may be a modified Tram D201 or a General with the rear apron "Belly Button" This and the ARF 2001 are my favorite radios to play with. If the transmitter didn't run so hot, I would use it as my standby radio.
My 2nd c.b. back in the early '70's, still have it! and one for spare parts!
