Italian 'intolerance' hits Roma community - 13 Jun 08

The French government is currently developing a "unified immigration policy", and will use its upcoming role as EU president to further debate the issue.

However, France is not alone in its worries about immigration.

In Italy, concern has turned to violence, with some migrant communities being physically attacked.

I don't get the deal about Italians calling the Romanian people "gypsies". If you look at the statistics Romania has more blue eyed and green eyed people than Italy..and let's face it Italy has far more population than Romania. I mean come on ! I've been both in Italy and Romania as a tourist and from my experience yes Italy is more developed but when it comes about getting a hot chick..Romania has by far hotter chicks than Italy..

I went to Italy and definately noticed the anger towards the gypsies. I know their situation is getting desperate but after refusing to give the same gypsie kid more money (after already giving him nearly 10 Euro) I was kicked in the shins and spat on by his mother. I won't go back to Italy because of the constant begging and fear for our own safety and it was not the Italian people who made us uncomfortable. I also saw a gypsy lady take a shit outside my hotel in Florence!
