  • a 16 x 16 inch softbox is also a great and very portable size. The size of the box is relative to the subject distance. Get the box as close as you can and you'll be just fine. At the same distance the 16 will be a bit harder/sharper light than the 23. I shot some pictures for a Christmas gift last year with only a single 16 inch soft box. It won't let me post a link. Look for Nativity Story in my videos here on Youtube. Again every shot in the video was with the 16.

  • Manzana1223, You bring up an interesting question. I'm not sure of the answer for you. I found a page on the pocket wizard site under compatibility.

It says this "Other flashes may work in "Basic Trigger Mode" without E-TTL." which leads me to think that the wizards can fire the flash in full manual but you won't get the magic of E-TTL or Hypersync unless they are Canon (Nikon) brand flashes. But I haven't tried any of these.

  • The soft box is a 23 inch cowboy studio easy soft box. If's a cheapish copy of the Lastolite EZBox. I'm using the MiniTT1 and the FlexTT5. I was hesitant about putting up the money at first, they are well worth the cost. I love them.

  • Vik456, I have looked into my flash sync speed. That is precisely what this video is about and yes I'm syncing at 1/4000 of a second, that's one four thousandth of a second. By using the pocket wizard and the focal plane shutter sync it can be done and you can do some amazing things with it. On a side note the effective power output does go down quite a bit when doing this. So look into FP mode. I think it's called High Speed Sync on the Canon. give it a try

  • Wonderful job !

  • would a 16 x 16 insh do the job well ? or i must get that 23 ?

  • Question for you, do you know if i can use an after market flash (canon) TTL on pocket wizard TT! & TT5, because i can't get it to work, does it has to be a Canon brad for sure, because the flashes are expensive. please let me know i need HELP !!!!!

  • NICE WORK, WHAT SIZE IS THE SOFTBOX AND WHAT POCKET WIZARD ARE YOU USING? LOOKING TO BUY ONE MYSELF......THE KIDS WAS GREAT.

  • Shooting at 1/4000? Look into your Flash Sync speed. You must match or stay in range to truely get good resutls. Example. I have a Canon 430 EX ii flash. I use a Canon T3 which has a flash sync spee of 1/250.

  • Nice work. Images look amazing. Love how the background completely fades.
