With a background in public policy and Capitol Hill journalism, he was drawn to Nashville in the mid 90s by its rich history and growing roots/Americana music scene. Since then, he's been a staff reporter for the Tennessean, a correspondent for WPLN and National Public Radio and freelance producer as founder of his own company, String Theory Media. He's the author of Air Castle of the South: WSM And The Making of Music City, the definitive history of the classic broadcaster that made Nashville the world's headquarters for country music. Currently he is a writer and producer for Music City Roots: Live From The Loveless Cafe, an acclaimed weekly live radio show and webcast spotlighting outstanding Americana music. He blogs about music and music commerce at www.stringtheorymedia.com.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
