CONGRESSMAN ADERHOLT DELIVERS SPEECH ON THE HOUSE FLOOR TO HONOR GADSDEN MEDAL OF HONOR WASHINGTON, D.C. Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) today introduced a bill for a vote on the floor of the US House of Representatives that would name the Department of Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic in Gadsden the Colonel Ola Lee Mize Veterans Clinic. A vote on this bill (HR 5736) is expected on the evening of September 15th by the U.S. House of Representatives. Colonel Mize won the Medal of Honor while serving in the U.S. Army in Korea and he later joined the Special Forces and completed three tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired as a colonel in 1981. Olas military career would see him courageously rise to the high ranking position of Colonel after the humble beginnings of a young man who was once rejected by the Army, said Congressman Aderholt from the Floor of the House. Colonel Mizes story is a great example to all Americans who aspire to great things in the face of challenges. If passed by Congress, any reference to this community based out-patient clinic in any law, regulation, map, document, record, or other paper of the United States shall be considered to be a reference to the Colonel Ola Lee Mize Veterans Clinic.
