What have the children of Darfur witnessed?
In June 2007, a Waging Peace researcher visited Darfuri refugees and displaced Chadians in eastern Chad. She collected testimonies from adults, and gave children, aged 6-18, paper and pencils to describe their dreams and memories. Nearly all the children drew pictures of attacks on their villages by Sudanese Government forces and Janjaweed militia.
The testimonies and graphic depictions of violence starkly contradict the Sudanese Government's version of events in Darfur. The children's drawings will form part of the evidence submitted to the International Criminal Court for the investigation of war crimes in Darfur.
This video features a small selection of the 500 drawings by children from Darfur and Chad who have been displaced by the Darfur conflict.
One boy wrote on the back of his drawing: "Look at these pictures carefully, and you will see what happened in Darfur. Thank you"

Not something a child should witness but the world we live in is harsh and brutal!
I guess when I think about my problems and their problems my problems seem insignificant by comparison.
I admit the violence was hard on everyone but more devastating for the children.

...truth shall come from the mouth of babes.
This is so haunting a chilling..it saddened me so much that I couldn't watch the rest. I pray for Yeshua to come back soon because things are so out of hand here that it cannot be fathomed.

Through a childs eyes we see the truth hense these children cannot make up things like tanks and weapons if they have not seen them. The evil that men do is brought to light by the bravery of these children and those who had the wonderful idea to just simply hand them paper and colored pencils.
