THIS IS A NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN concert by the Dresden Dolls that was held at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston on Friday, September 26, 2003. This was the Dresden Dolls' very first CD release party concert for the release of their debut self-titled album, "The Dresden Dolls" (2003). This was the largest concert they had ever done to date, and the massive turn-out of their crowd that night made it a sold out show! This is also a very exclusive performance, as the Dresden Dolls feature a guitarist, a bass player, and a violinist performing on-stage with them during the concert, added musicians who used to perform with them at some of their shows in the early days. Up until this point, the Dresden Dolls were still a local Boston band playing mostly small Boston venues, and they had still never even gone on tour yet! Only two days after this highly successful concert, on Sunday, September 28, 2003, the Dresden Dolls would embark on their very first tour ever as an opening act for Edward Kaspel of the Legendary Pink Dots. On a final emphasis, at this debut CD release party concert on September 26, 2003, the Dresden Dolls had performed every single song off that first album, probably the only time they ever did in one night. The Dresden Dolls would like to thank all of their devoted hardcore fans who made that night an amazing success. "Good Day" is the opening song of this 1 1/2 hour previously unreleased debut CD release party concert that is being made partially available here to the public for the very first time. This is truly a MUST SEE for all Dresden Dolls fans!
Filmed by Marcel Rizzo, Michael Pope, Linda Sacenti, KumaLisa Gordon, and Phillip Griffin - Edited by Marcel Rizzo - Produced by Amanda Palmer and Brian Viglione - Co-produced by Michael Pope - Associate Producer, Marcel Rizzo. The yet to be released entire Dresden Dolls debut CD release party concert video was completed in the Summer of 2004.

  • Ah, back in all of their mime-makeup'd glory.

Not that they are not glorious now. Because of course they are.

God, I wish I could go to the Boston show where they will play the entirety of their debut album. But I'm going to the NYC show, so I guess I can't complain.

Not a huge fan of the extra musicians. It's just not the Dolls, ya know?

    Brian & Amanda forever! ;)

  • @NinaQueenofSpades It still is the Dresden Dolls with the extra musicians. Some of the Dolls' greatest songs are performed at their best with those extra musicians. They only came onstage for a few of their songs, but they were there when DD were just starting to rise and are a foundation to how far the Dolls have come. Thanks for your comment, however, and for your devoted love for the Dolls. You sound like a true fan. Go to my page and subscribe to get more of this DD classic concert ;)
