I fished in florida for a couple weeks cast netting one winter just for a vacation. I met some really nice people who fished there all their lives gillnetting. I felt so much sorrow for all the people I met in Cortez . Their livelihood stripped away, and there I was trying to cast net their fish for a vacation. Hopefully someday people will open their eyes and see the truth behind our livelihood, and how important we our to the economy, and how were not the murderous boogeymen were made out 2 B.

We commercial fished in N FL up until the net ban. There is a good book called "Spring Creek Chronicles 1&2" which tells very good stories of how it USED TO BE up here. I was an eyewitness to the death of a culture along here. The state of FL offered to buy the net from the fishermen through a grant job that my dad got because he had worked with the locals crabbing and fishing call "NET BAN SPECIALIST" but, because of pride issues most kept there nets , wishing they had sold them later.
