  • I was the one who recorded this video...

    again its called Subar Sonic.

no it use's a 120 hp Subaru EJ81 boxer, cruise at 140 mph.

I've seen them do 240 mph

  • Short N Sweet video.

I'm dying to get some detailed performance specs on the Suby Q200.

I've tried Google but none of my terms get detailed info.

Rate of climb, rate of descent, changed Vne? Changed roll rate, rate of yaw, rate of pitch? Fuel consumption?

After seeing a few Legacies and Imprezas on Kijii for a couple hundred bucks cause of blown transmissions, etc I'm very curious about the potential.

  • Google "Jon Finley Q2" and you'll go to his page.

    Fshr631: he doesn't use the EA81 anymore, it's a EJ 2.2

  • Fshr631: He uses a EJ 2.2 and use to have a EA81.

  • What is the VNE on that thing ?

  • They could do 230 mph comfortably but it depends on how well made it is.

  • These are so hot.

  • You know nothing. You don't know everyone.

  • The more I think about it... Doc, are you the other guy my dad keeps in touch with that's doing a similar configuration???

@ Everyonehatesrussia--- I know for a fact that he hasn't put precious sweat and blood into "this" plane, otherwise I would personally know him and we wouldn't be having this discussion...

  • Sounds like docrw knows way more about this plane than you DO.

  • Thankya kindly. Found and faved the site. It's a wealth of info.

  • actually what your hearing is very bad for performance... that loud wineing sound as it goes by indicates that the prop tip is at supersonic or passing supersonic speeds which will cause sever drag on the prop

  • yes, I apologize at the time of writing that I was still thinking my Dad was using the old 81 in it. But seriously, Please change the name to "Subar Sonic", that is what we have writen on the side of the aircraft...

fuel consumption was something like 4.5ish gallons per hour I think...
