Very well said and, like you, thought "why do they bother and who would actually be flattered?" until i witnessed a creeper actually get someone to return and carry a conversation!
It is what it is, but i'm with u on saying something! And maybe teach people some self respect in the process, but i highly doubt it!

I don't go to bars or clubs a lot and I'd expect "pervy" behavior if I went to one. Outside of the "club atmosphere," I'd be more adamant about groping or sensual innuendo.

Your point on how you replay things in your head...
I do it all the time. Like, I'd sit there and think of every possible outcome and then hate myself for not doing whatever I was thinking on the spot when shit was going down.
As far as perverts go, I always do the swift slap to the hand with a loud and obnoxious NO.
And as far as catcalls go, I ALWAYS call them out and make a scene in the middle of the street.
