  • It is the same Galloping Ghost. Raced over a period of 60+ years, crashed, rebuilt, modified and tweaked. An unfortunate and tragic end for this historic racing aircraft.

  • Those were different times. There were two accidents in this race that aren't shown. One plane flew into the ground and the pilot was killed. And one pilot bailed out with the the plane crashing to earth and injuring a woman. In 1949 a racer crashed into a house killing a mother and her child. That was the end of the Cleveland Air Races.

  • Was this the Galloping Ghost that crashed in Reno?

  • The P51 shown at :45 is the same P51 that crashed in Reno a few months ago.

  • Awesome video, it's hard to believe that they used to run the air races up there in Cleveland. You could never pull something like that off today.
