Yes and no. It's not as easy as DC or DCC but with a bit of practice, it get easier.

can u use the same power clip from a dc controller???

The controller feeds power to the track via a standard Hornby power track. The only difference is that the wire from the LS controller is a lot more 'beefy' (to take the extra load) and doesn't have the clip. You press the buttons on the power track and push the wires in.

Live steam locos are about £160 and the controller another £120 at todays prices. The layout cost next to nothing because it was built from bits of wood in my garage. :-)

Yes and no. Yes for the fact you get a lot of satisfaction running them but no in the way that it's a big outlay and you can't run more than one at a time.
But if you are a real steam fan, then it's a big yes!
