Madeleine Peyroux - I'm All Right

Wondferul laid back vocals and what great lyrics. Love the fellini-esque video... yet much more comforting. Good job Madeleine!

I like this album and will get her next album. I like her voice, too. But is this type of voice considered a "good" vocal? Anyone? Seems like it's very "lazy", casual, relaxed. Does it mean it's very "easy"? No efforts required? Unlike k.d. lang's vocal which is very obviously amazing and "rich" and has depth.

if you like the way it sounds then yes - it's a good vocal.

a vocal should never be a strain... and to compare Peyroux to Lang is to compare oranges to apple - they are both fantastic but in different ways. Peyroux has an intimacy lang can't touch.

but again... if you like... it's good!

It perfectly suits the song, so yes, it's good; even great.

Music isn't something to be measured and quantified, it's meant to be experienced. If power and range were the only priorities, we'd have nothing but opera. Though I love the great sopranos, would rather listen to intimate jazz on a rainy evening.

Singing should sound effortless in my opinion. A good example was Nat King Cole. My parents saw him at a small club in the 50's. He played for four hours! They said his voice was as clear and sweet at the end as it was at the beginning.

@sukeong I don´t know why the fuck people are voting negative if you say that you are not sure about the voice quality.. you can say what you want, so here is my possitive vote :)
