This was my first solo flight in the pattern at Westosha Airport in Wilmot, Wisconsin. January 23rd 2007. I am flying a Cessna 152. There was a 12 knot crosswind that day and the runway is only 38ft wide. It may not seem like a very strong crosswind, but if you look at the windsock at 0:22, it is fully extended. A fully extended windsock = about 15 knots.

  • No competent CFI would let you you solo in a 12K xwind.

  • I received my private in August of Last year and am taking my Instrument Checkride in the next month or so. After that it's commericial and multi.

  • my video response is what your 12 knot crosswind would like on a 50 foot wide runway

  • thanks for your reply to my vid, and congrats on your first solo, many happy landings!

  • Oh and congrats on the first solo!
