2003 Honda CRV Brake Pad and Rotor change part 2

Note: After changing the pads, I pumped the brake numerous times to prime the brakes before they worked.

  • How come you didn't show yourself using the caliper tool w/ the old pads to push the piston back in place? That's crucial.

  • At 1:44 I push the caliper back in with a 4 inch c-clamp. This was done with the brake fluid resevoir opened. Alternatively, I've done it with the bleeder bolt open.

  • how do you get the rotors off i took the screws out and the nut but rotors wont go

  • Do you see those additional screw holes (that did not have studs going thru them) in the new rotor I installed? If you have those holes then you can put screws IN thoses holes to PUSH the rotor off the hub. Or you might consider using a "liquid wrench" substance plus a hammer.

    Good luck!

  • I was trying to determine how the pads on my 2005 CRV Tdi were removed from the top and bottom clips with the help of the new Hayes manual for that model. In most cars one takes the clips off the caliper THEN you remove the old pads. But I see from your video that the pads come off at right angles to the disc and the top and bottom springs remain in place until the pads are removed. That was not made clear in Hayes manual so I'm grateful for your video!

  • Thanks...from a woman. I actually used this video and have been changing my brake pads for the past yr!!!
