Harlem Indian interviews Patricia Carter, NCAI Ambassador, at the National congress of American Indians 2007 conference in Denver, Colorado.
She is a gatherer of traditional foods, an art that has been passed down to her through many
generations. She has spent practically every spring and summer of (her) life camping with (her)
family in the mountains of eastern Washington, Oregon and Northern Idaho gathering the staple
foods of roots, berries, mosses, and various other plants.
Patricia has a love and interest in her community which began at an early age. She is proud to say she has dedicated her life to helping others, helping community organizations as well as national organizations. She is currently a house-parent for the Nez Perce Tribal Children's Home. She strives to make a difference when participating with programs and projects that serve Native youth and
will continue to participate in the future.
