On Tuesday April 26, 2011, Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) held a joint press conference with Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-Massachusetts) and the Institute for Policy Studies' Robert Alvarez on the ongoing impact of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster to public health 25 years after the accident, the continuing nuclear catastrophe in Fukushima, Japan, and the lessons from both for U.S. public health and safety.
The speakers are:
Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass), Ranking Member, Natural Resources Committe
PSR Immediate Past President Jeff Patterson, DO
Robert Alvarez, Senior Scholar, Institute for Policy Studies
PSR President-Elect Andrew S. Kanter, MD, MPH
PSR Member of the Board Ira Helfand, MD
@rs2013 The materials at Fukushima are covered, although a cap may be needed eventually. Radiation is leaking, but not like Chernobyl where the material was exploded into the atmo, and where there was no containment vessel at all.

Chernobyl put tons of radioactive material into the atmosphere. To compare Fukushima with it without qualifications is fear mongering. To compare Fukushima with Nagasaki is equally disingenuous.
We are exposed to radiation constantly.

Too bad all the projections from places like NILU, EURAD, etc., have been taken off the web in the past couple of weeks. I do hope that as time goes by, there will be folks that will be able to bring some of these hidden facts to the public eye. I don't think it's just the Japanese government trying to control public perception, but the USA is deep in this too.
Thanks to all the professionals, medical, nuclear, journalists, etc., that are fighting for facts and the health of the public.

Science is impersonal. Like the force of gravity, it exists regardless of what one thinks or believes. Test the Roy Process and find out if it works as claimed. Dr. Roy estimated 2 million dollars in 1979 to reduce Cesium 137 and should take about 2 weeks. The heat produced can generate electricity. First you must pass a Congressional Bill to allow nuclear waste destruction instead of 'geologic isolation' which limits science to 'burial' of nuclear waste. We need less body burden, not more.

Dr Strangelovian Madness! They're not ignorant nor short-sighted - they are psychopaths!

Though we have damages on DNA, though we live. We all are miracles, so what? That we exist is not a self-evidence, do not forget this!

In 1979, Dr. Radha R. Roy, professor of physics emeritus, released to the Press, that he had invented new science to photon transmute to zero, and generate electricity. Then President Reagan signed a Bill to make 'burial' of nuclear waste federal policy. This politically suppressed alternatives such as destruction. The DOE 'knew or should have known' safe burial is impossible. A Geiger counter will be common as a wrist watch. Everyone has permanent DNA damage already! Search 'The Roy Process'.
