A disaster movie opening with an enormous multi-vehicle crash on a Californian highway. After the opening stunt-filled action, a flashback of the crash victims' lives prior to and leading up to the accident. The closing replays the entire "smash up" from various angles and in slow motion, depicting much carnage and indifference to the victims. An all star cast led by Robert Conrad, Buddy Ebsen, Scott Jacoby, Vera Miles, Tommy Lee Jones, Donna Mills, and many more.

  • AINT THE SAME WITHOUT PONCH, JON, AND THE DISCO MUSIC

  • I was 15 when this was on TV... I watched virtually the whole film from start to finish, until my grumpy old grandfather who was staying with us at the time, turned the TV off saying it was rubbish! Literally with only 5 mins left of the film to go!!!! I was so p***ed off. So, to this day, I still don't know who survived and who didn't!

  • This could have been the prologue to "CHiPs" (Freeway, Accident & CHP)

  • all because the old man wanted to cop a feel smh.

  • @THX1205 Cheap TV budget back then..

  • this was a good show

  • @imthedorf1964 Yeah, but back in the mid 70's those cars weren't worth that much..

My guess it would be like comparing them to the cars early 90's even though the cars they were using in the movie were from the 50's to the mid 60's they deff.. looked and were built to last

if you notice even after the cars were hit they still held that's because they were made of strong steel and crome, all you had to do is bang the metal out, body wise anyway try doing that with a modern car..

  • I remember watching this when it first came out. It was especially weird seeing Harriet Nelson playing Barnaby Jones' wife, so used to seeing her with no one else but Ozzie. The movie was very unique for its time, how it depicted the tragedy, and then retraced the events leading up to it.

  • Wow, l remember seeing this when l was a kid. And after watching this, l'd like to see the whole thing again.

The really sad part tho is watching all these classic cars getting smashed up.

  • He is the cop who gets shot by the kids driving the van.
