Does laser light penetrates through clothes. No, even a whithe shirt stops about 90% and colored cloth up to 100%.

    Hi Troy,

The general optical laws are valid for all light - laser or any other light source. If the material is transparent for daylight, then it is transparent for laser light. Certain material can absorb specific wavelengths - laser light or not. This can be used in filters such as heat reflecting filters. Laser protection glasses are designed to absorb a wavelength band (covering the wavelength of the laser) but transmitting as much as possible of the remainig light. Lars Hode

  • This is really good information that some of our colleagues who use lasers over clothing might want to consider. I have attended seminars where they showed treatment through clothing and it made little sense to me. Thanks for posting this.
