One of my favorite programs made in 1999. Thanks A&E!

  • This list only has 100 people in 1000 years of history?

Perhaps 200 or 150 is a better number.

  • Sadly, this list doesn't include Steve Jobs (who made computers easy to use), Tim Berners-Lee (British scientist and father of the World wide Web), or JFK (the man who prevented world war 3).

Ronald Reagan is also ranked far below on this list; the man that won the arms-race against the Soviets and turned the US military into the 21st century military it is today.

  • America and the Freeworld (Brittain, Europe) did in 100 years what most empires do in 1000. The digital/industrial age and age of civil rights allows us to move 10 times faster than the Romans did.

That's why most on list are American or European. It can't be helped.

  • Lincoln preserved the Union.

Much later, the U.S. would save the world in WW2 and in the cold war.

    Should be ranked higher.

  • i have not yet seen a chinese emperor.... D:

  • That last clip gives a tiny piece of dignity to this documentary... It amazes me how limited the concept of the "world" can be for most of American media.

  • My thoughts and "grades" of the person in this part:

#23: One of my favorite presidents. Without Lincoln's leadership, we wouldn't have a United States today...we'd have a United States and a Confederacy. A lesser man couldn't have led the country at that time. However, I feel he may be just a hair too high...Top 50, yes; Top 25, not so sure. A+

  • I agree that it is too American centered, but America has had an impact on the world that would not have occurred without Lincoln. On another note though, what is the song played from 1:34 - 2:07?

  • I don't think Lincoln should be this high...it is too slanted towards America. Lincoln had no effect on other countries other than USA.

  • Richard Holbrooke in the end is funny!!! But he's also correct this list is too Americanized.
