Landing at Corfu Airport

A couple of landings at Corfu, the first is at sea level looking towards Vlacherna monastery, the second is higher at a taverna at Kononi looking Pontikonisi (Mouse Island). If you are an aviation enthusiast you will love it here. The best days to visit are Monday and Friday and you get a terrific view of the runway and sea approach. It's quite spectacular the way the runway starts off at the edge of the lake, although it's not set in the sea, as there is a causeway between the sea and the lake, it is very close. You can reach Kanoni by green bus from the Centre of Corfu town at St Rocco Square.

August 1988 when I was whacked on the head during an aborted landing in a lighting storm. Diverted to Brindisi where I and a few other passengers spent spent 6 hours or so sobering up. The only way to fly! Seriously, plenty of negaitve comments on the web plus a vid of an aborted 757 landing.
