i have a razr m 4.1.2 and the app (found in play store RockoDevAudio Mod.) works great, i could hear the difference in the bass immediately

yas, theyre for style... basically u could buy whach for 1k when for 20$ whach is more acurate, same with glasses, so im not sure, no im think headphones allso could be for style... beats for quality - more for awerage user, they doesnt hawe good lows or hihts... but good bass and clear sound, so its style plus awesome sound for AWERAGE users. for more advance users, could buy ugly looking but better sound headphones

Nope, it's just an altered sound profile. It works on pretty much any gingerbread build android phone upwards. ALL decent smartphones have a small headphone amplifier built into them. Personally, I think people are better off just buying some good headphones instead of shelling out for "beats" branded phones.
