Yes, I keep hearing this sort of thing from many people.
My experience from living in among many societies in various countries is that any group of people can become bad, when they are treated badly. I saw one society of people suddenly change for the better when the laws and the situation in that country raised their opportunities for work at good wages.

Well said. I have a friend who isa a hungarian gypsy. He is a good man and was/is an incredible dancer.
Unfortunately, the stereotypes do exist and are true for the majority. And agian, it is unfortunate that in my numerous travels (for months at a time) to Slovakia and Ukraine, that is the situation.

@Lemkowicz What I know is there is good and bad in everyone. I knew a Roma from Ukraine and his family was full of hospitality every time I visited. In my country we have a saying " it is conditions that make a crawfish bend" I love Roma culture and really do not want to consider stereotypes. If we always follow stereotypes we wold probably hate every minority group.

gypsys were nomad, folks without state... and all ancient rituals, dances are known to them, they were always present in everyday life of europe troughout the history... today, in my country, croatia, they are just crooks, thiefs, and no gooders....unfortunately.....

You never lived among them, that's why you cannot understand why they are hated. What you see on youtube is only 5% of them.

(Bignikkospw) Here in Europe, Their are meny types of Romany, Roma. Rom dance, That is a Hungerian style dance, In Andalucia ( Spain) it is Differant again, Cheek out Turkish Gypsy Dance (on youtube) cheek out "Reyhan" Turkish Rom Belly Dance, also on you tube to give yourself some idea of the diversity of the dance.
