  • So what is the run. I know it's not 56251 b/c you used like 15notes. What really is the numbering for this run- or the theory behind it? You kept playing it but never explained it in the video! Thanks

  • It's explained on the DVD. The numbers are theory based off of the key I'm in. (Major Scale or Key)

  • Is your camera closer on your DVDs? I have a hard time seeing what you are doing and not exactly familiar with a 5-6-5-2-1 or whatever it is...Love your videos by the way!

  • Much closer. Look at my other videos. This one is older when I first started doing this.

  • Lol at your voice! I didn't know Dave Chapelle knew how to play the keys??? Naw I'm just kidding but real nice video though. but you do kind of sound like him :)!!!!

  • man, I laughed when I heard you say that. I'm tall and skinny like Dave but nobody ever said my voice sounds like his. too funny! Thanks for the laugh.

  • The numbering of "56251" are the notes of the scale that is played with your left hand. Since the gentleman was playing in an Eb major scale (Eb-F-G-Ab-Bb-C-D-Eb), the "56251" is the same as "Bb-C-F-Bb-Eb" on the Eb major scale. He is using numbers so people can play the run on different scales. He typed the run (about 16 notes) in his earlier post. Since there are twelve major scales, know the notes of a scale by individual numbers. It makes playing on different scales easier. Helpful?

  • oh what an awesome music! This is exactly what I've been looking for a long time. Thanks a lot. I'm just going to try it.

  • Do you have any videos or tips that can help beginners master playing runs? It seem like my brain will not let me play both left & right hand. I'm struggling with this.

  • Very good stuff.

  • O_o WOW sick!

  • i wish i cud jus chop his fingers off and replace mine

  • do midi files doc! It's 2011

  • I know this video is super old. But i'm sure you meant Eb and not Ab if this run ends on the one. Nice vid tho. I'm still gonna add it to my favorites, because it's an essential for me, as i'm learing to play the key.
