In the 80ies the site at the former "Adolf" colliery at Herzogenrath-Merkstein has been used as a coal storage area by the Anna colliery and coke plant at Alsdorf. "Adolf" was connected by a private railway line, which was used only occasionally. The scene shows "Anna 12" with a coal train attempting to climb the incline between Merkstein and the old railway bridge crossing the line connecting "Carl-Alexander" colliery to the public railway network. Only with some help of an other engine, probably "Anna 1" the train is finally hauled up the ramp towards Alsdorf.
Recorded on Super-8 Kodachrome approximately 1985
