Aloha Sangha!
Today is day #20 of the POWER Juice Feast and Cleanse and we're half way complete! WOW, the days are flying by super fast and I'm feeling great!
Today I decided to take the camera along with me to the Ventura Farmers Market, along the way I stop off to investigate these big containers full of some type of substance they spray on all the lemon and lime trees. My guess is it's pesticides, this is only one example of thousands of hazardous materials used to spray food here in California. There are conventional farms everywhere here in Southern California and on all the farms edges there are huge containers, barrels and pumps that store and distribute toxic pesticides, fungicides, etc.
My biggest problem with this industry is that they don't give the earth or people like myself any choice about putting these hazardous materials into our water supply, the air we breath and surrounding habitats. It's as worse as second hand smoke from smokers, the pesticides sprayed on a farm don't stay there they seep into our ground and find their way into our bodies via wind currents.
I am a big supporter of conscious farming and organic farming. We need to start educating people immediately as to the effects these so called conventional farming practices are having on our bodies and environment. I think if people were educated and knew what they were really putting into their bodies and their kids bodies they wouldn't support these destructive industry.
In order for us to make a substantial change we need to stop supporting these farmers and farms. Once we can show them that we don't want food tainted with chemicals or genetically altered in any way shape or form then they will see it's not profitable and change their practices to farm ethically and organically.
One farm doing just that is Tutti Frutti Farms one of if not my favorite farm in California. Tutti Frutti Farms has been growing organic produce since 1988 and has become one of California's leaders in sustainable organic farming practices.
I stopped by the Ventura Farmers Market today to have a brief word with some of the farmers and customers who buy organic. I'm so glad to have had the chance to talk with the staff and customers and it really put a BIG smile on my face to see they were so busy... busier than all the other conventional produce stands!
If you're ever in Ventura and go to the farmers market be sure to stop by and support Tutti Frutti Farms produce stand and tell them Brother Echo from Raw Sangha sent you!
