  • Thank you for posting this, much respect!

In the DAW domain, would you say is there still a need to use two separate busses, or is it enough to stack two compressors on one buss only?

I see people use the 1176 and then LA2 to control vocals dynamics in a two-stage manner, and I'm just wondering if it's essentially the same approach.

  • hows that all work out when they recompress for mastering?

  • Amazing difference in openness. Thanks, one of the best mixing videos in Youtube!

  • Awesome!

    But what about the phase?

The processing time of analog machine (LTD2) is short, but if the compressed signal arrive later than the non-compressed signal in the disstressor, it will create a comb-filter effect. So ... do we have to delay the non-compressed signal?

    Thanx for the tip!!!

  • Yeah fucking right! Sorry but he is as flat as a pancake. Don't use autotune, it will sound like it has been run through,,,,,autotune, just sing it line by line or verse by verse to get it right or get someone else who can sing in tune. I'm sorry but if anyone important ever has to make judgement on this track,,that will be the first thing they notice, and that is that this guy's voice is really flat.

  • I like this technique because i do not have to automate my compressor parameters anymore. GREAT VIDEO.

  • can use expander plus compressor do same?

  • thank you!

  • I think his intonation is fine, for a human being. I'd rather hear it this way than with AutoTune.

  • Great description/explanation and video Mike!

Now... work on that guys intonation!

Oh yeah.... that can be fixed.
