Live camera one mile deep showing the efforts being made by BP to stop the flow. Today approximately 20 million gallons have been spilled, considerably less than the 520 million in Kuwait in 1991. The Ixtoc blew out on June 3, 1979 and wasn't capped until March 1980, causing 140 million gallons to be spilled into the bay of Campeche, Mexico, 600 miles from the Texas coast.
