Four 160 watt Kyocera solar panels in action, March 10, 2007 in southern Wisconsin. 11.5 hours of sunlight generated 4 kW's of electricity...way enough to power the fridge, a dozen flourescent bulbs, the circulating pump for the radiant heat, the well pump and tv/radio for hours.
And it powered this laptop and a video camera all day as well.
The entire system was about $10,000. Everything here was bought at the Alternative Energy Store, at altenergystore.com.
And I had to stand still for like 15 minutes to get in this video for half a second at the end!

  • great time lapse! =)

  • @logicson Not sure where you are. I live in central Florida and City of Leesburg charged me $0.111/kWH last month (0.81609/kWH base rate +0.0295/kWH variable charge). That works out to $162/year

  • @Thudothwacker With that number and size of panels - I'd say the whole day. You'd need 25 or more of those for 4kW per hour.

  • damn WMG sucks

  • Superb action shots of those shadows.

  • A person appears out of no where...magic. It would of been nice if it had more statistical info of voltage throughout the day and amps and stuff

  • That is a really big solar panel set up you have there
