My preference is that if there is a large snow storm I will stay off the roads. If there is a significant amount of ice on the roads I will walk instead but for the most part the roads are clear. I've been cycling in the winter for 15 years I've never had an accident due to ice or snow. I actually think that there are more accidents in the summer time because people ride on the sidewalks. if you ride on the sidewalk in the winter than you may get into a accident .

Hi there, im going to be riding to work this winter and found this video very helpful. what brand is your front fender? thanks!

the backlight in the helmets is a smart solution, one smart thing is to lower the tire pressure so that the tires are "soft" you will have more traction at a cost of that, that it will be a bit moore exhausting to move around...

Thanks for helping me prepare for winter commutes! I live outside of Buffalo, NY and it's quite difficult but rewarding.
Good job! I have a similar belief that internal geared hub is the way to go. The derailleur takes a real pounding in the winter. The salt reacts with the aluminum. I try to avoid major roads for this reason. One thing that would be good to mention (regarding aluminum frames) is to keep up on touching up scratches on the frame and to wash off salt build up on the bottom bracket part of the frame and derailleur mech. Great video!

Good comment -- the aluminum will turn to dust if you don't care for it.
