She's so right. I've always worn my hair silky straight. I've been with my company for 10 years and my employers would always compliment me on my hair, no matter how outrageous it was. Now I wear my hair natural because I'm free and Not a one of those men ever said my hair was beautiful, matter of fact I was told I look like Whoopi Goldberg, yet I'm rocking a twist out look, not locs? Go figure, nappy hair looks the same to them...LOL I don't care, I'm rocking my natural hair!

I agree wholeheartedly with your video. As a BM, the same things people say they hate about brothas and sistas are the same qualities they say they love. It must be something about us that are intimidating to others. Plus, we need to start determining our own destiny instead of follow and seeking someone elses.

I can't believe I missed this video! What you said was real talk. I came across this conclusion in 2006. I used to do the facade thing, until I said "fuck it", and "fuck everybodys feelings about me". I'm me and if they don't like me for that then they can get the hell on.

@WhereYaBoss lol at those brothas...what does it mean to "be like a white or asian" woman? As if every woman of a particular race act the same exact way. Damn. I don't know about my fellow brothas some time.

I am so glad you made this video...I have dealt with this issue for a while...Whenever im in social situations I always try to alter my actions as not to become the "steretypical black girl in the room" Im always trying to be extra polite and extra quiet as to represent to those of other races that all black women are not always "loud" and/or "ghetto"...and you're right it doesnt work...We're still viewed as Shaquita from the projects...So from now on ima DO ME!!... Take me or leave me

And after she hit the chick with the can, they BOTH ran off, looking like 2 scared runaway slaves. What does that say ? Also, if Black Women have issues with 'stereotypes', focus your energy on B.E.T., hip-hop artists, and sites like WorldStarHipHop. Worrying about Pepsi while giving those entities a 'pass' is very hypocritical!!! Peace

@seand67 Them running off was needed. That was the real part of it. We all know what happens to Black folks when a white woman is involved and any harm is done to her. Yeah, this is America.

sis thank you so much for your video, and I agree abt 98%
the problem comes in when BW continue to support establishments, companies and even individuals who disrespect the image of black women, like pepsi. do you at least support the pepsi boycott? (google search for pepsi commercial boycott )
also, do you think this theory is realistic when most bw MUST deal with the others on a daily basis, whether it's on the job or in social settings? or should BW make efforts to separate from the others?

@ronimichelle45 I boycott Pepsi because I don't drink it. Don't understand why folks do. But that a another discussion altogether. Yes, its realistic in my world. Like I said before, I am over it. I'm moving on. Its too much stress to continue the facade for other folks benefit. Do as you will. This video expresses my point of view.
