@bejais I already did. There are some videos on hydro in a 2 liter on my channel.

@mediamaker2000 you should try hydro i am sure you could invent something for that

@bejais I can't disagree with you on that at all. I was growing an indeterminate tomato plant in basically what was a 4.5 inch wide yet very deep pot. But there are dwarf plants and other smaller plants like herbs you can grow in it but it was alot of work to make. But I have devised an easier self watering planter that you can make in a few minutes without drilling any holes. I hope to have that video out by december 31st. What are wanting to grow?

this is way to much work for just having to transplant in three weeks

My mom used a cotton string that went from the dirt down to the water bowl area. She always watered the plant by refilling the bottom part of the bowl but it was an African Violet plant which seemed to only draw the amount of water it needed to survive. I don't know if you can do this with tomatoes since they require more water but it's cheap enough to experiment with.

@MrWirelesscaller That works too but I hear that eventually the wicking action deteriorates over time and doesn't allow the roots to grow through if needed. You can do a variation with a tomato in large form using a wicking barrel. Check out an Australian channel called bnbob01. Tell him that mediamaker2000 sent you.

been using 2 liter bottles since the 70"S....make v-cut in side of top half insert a peice of cotton t-shirt or sock as a wick your done . great for getting many kinds of seeds off to a good start that will stay water for as long as 2wks some times.

@rawbrutaltruth The wicking action deteriorates over time. I'm trying to avoid that part.

if you heat the edge it will shrink in hot water.

@josephdupont I tried that but it didn't work so well for me. I probably did it wrong. Either way, I have a new version coming out that's a lot simpler. Thanks for the tip!
