  • brilliant aircraft pre-war design very rugged easy to repair and could hold its own against most aircraft. It was the hurricane that won the battle of britain the spitfire that won the hearts of a nation.

  • i dont care wat anybody says the hurricane has always been sexier in my eyes! but still two of the best british designs and id quite happily say the best aircraft of the war

  • Very true. The hurricane was the workhorse of the battle of britain and if it wasnt for them we would have lost. The spitfire was the more famous due to its name and agility.

  • During the Battle of Britain 70% of the German aircraft shot down were the result of RAF pilots flying Hurricanes. I am indebted to those brave pilots who handed the Germans their first defeat. Air Chief Marshall H.C.T. Dowding was the great WWII

leader who designed and directed the defensive strategy which made the victory possible.

  • At 0:18 the man next to it looks pretty relaxed, like it was normal standing next to an enormously famous and loud plane*.

*I have sensitive hearing so a lot of things is loud to me :p

  • God that is awesome.

  • ....lucky is the man (or woman) who gets to take one of these babies into the sky

  • Hurricane won the Battle of Britain !!!

  • Galland heaped scorn on the Hurri during the battle of France.. He ate his words later though after the Battle of Britain.

  • Actually the Spitfire was a pre war design as well. They both were developed around the same time and the same air frame. Either way both the Spitfire and the Hurricane stood against the Nazi Lufftwaffe and helped win the war! I'm sorry but I just don't think any one fighter from WW2 could really be called the best, especially on the allies side. Each aircraft was vital to the war and each had an area that they were great in.

  • @sharmanboys cut out that chiiter chatter !! lol

  • In the Battle of Britain there was often so much confusion in the dogfights that Spits would go for either fighters or bombers and the same for the Hurricane. As the fighters were fairly closely matched, success would depend more on the skill of the pilot and closing to firing range without being detected rather than any technical superiority. If you could attack a fighter from above and behind and close to about 600 yrds without being detected you would probably win
