Janáček´s work based on the novel by Tolstoy. Very sad and passionate.

  • Janacek: one of the all time masters up there with Beethoven Mozart Bach Wagner Verdi Monteverdi Mussorgsky Schubert - those I'd take to the desert island I luckily don't have to go to :-). Janacek the passionate, the intense, the sensual, the erratic, the nervious, the earthy, the voice of nature, wild and so loving and tender, unique immediately recognisable ... let's promote this Great Genius

  • This is my favorite string quartet! thank you very much for uploading this gorgeous music!

  • This music gives me goosebumps... the good kind.

  • Ma chi sono i due imbecilli che hanno messo il pollice verso?

    Questo compositore è un genio.

  • this interpretation is quite decent. Try Leipziger Streichequartett or Budapest String Quartet.

  • IMHO, one of Janacek's best works if not his best piece.

  • thanks a lot =) i´ll be looking that up

  • Could someone tell me which novel by Tolstoy is this piece based on? thanks

  • Great !!!

  • Janáček is one of the dearest composers to me. Great piece, And yes, it's sad, just like Tolstoy's work. Janáček really did capture its spirit!

  • I am sick of people making stupid comments on pieces that are remotely dissonant.
